PARENT COACHING
We want the best for our children - health, happiness, friends, dreams, smarts, safety, success. We want them to feel loved, valuable, and capable of loving others. We want them to feel welcome in the world for who they are and to be able to navigate the world and society successfully, and to be emotionally resilient.
Inevitably, we run into blocks and challenges to our skills in parenting, sometimes from unexpected issues or circumstances which are beyond our understanding. Sometimes addictions and complex diagnosis, or environmental or familial changes cause relationship breakdowns.
Parenting is the job of a lifetime - a marathon, not a sprint.
Sometimes the right solution is for parents to get help to understand how to support their own resiliency, mindfulness, values and self-regulation as they navigate challenges coming at them from kids, adolescents and spouses, former partners, and the complicated and stressful world we live in.
Parent coaching involves working together to learn different communication skills, understanding developmental issues arising, and understanding one's own reactivity, and sometimes, unhealed traumas and habitual ways of coping. These areas may be helped by more information, skills and tools for managing inevitable stresses, including working on self-acceptance, forgiveness, and receiving support for the hardest job there is - being a loving parent in a challenging and changing world.
Parent coaching can help us find healing, humor, enjoyment, and new ways to be in loving connection to our families - whatever unique family you come from or have created.
